Engineering

PJ Messtechnik GmbH’s experienced engineering team combines theoretical and practical knowledge to develop components and rail vehicles. PJM is also certified by the AAR-WABL Committee for strength verification of railway wheels (S-660 and S-669). Our experienced, interdisciplinary team in Graz covers CAD design, FEM analysis, and MBS simulation. PJM also demonstrates its strength in the field of structural manufacturing. The company’s outstanding expertise in welding technology is attested to by its certification at Activity Level D (design, calculation, documentation) and Classification Level CL 1 (the highest safety level) in accordance with EN 15085-2 – the standard for the welding of rail vehicles and components.

Vehicle testing

As an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited testing laboratory, PJ Messtechnik GmbH conducts rail vehicle testing worldwide. Test areas include acoustics, brakes, vehicle dynamics, fatigue strength, aerodynamics, EMC and pantographs. The latest accreditation covers measurements in accordance with EN 50317 and simulations in accordance with EN 50318.

Instrumented wheel sets

PJM has profound expertise in the engineering and testing of measurement wheel sets on static and mobile test rigs, as well as in the execution and supervision of dynamic running tests. The company’s Graz site has a dedicated hall equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure for the development and manufacture of measurement wheel sets.

Approval and requirements management

Approval and requirements management in accordance with the 4th Railway Package, provided by the experts at PJ Motion GmbH. This includes capturing requirements, managing evidence and submitting vehicle approval applications to the relevant authority.

Approval & Certification

Handled by the accredited conformity assessment body, RCC Railway Competence and Certification GmbH. Services include product certifications (as a ‘Notified Body’ (NoBo) and ‘Designated Body’ (DeBo)), independent safety assessments (AsBo and ISA), and certifications of maintenance organisations (ECM), as well as assessments and expert services.
